Our Sweet Bain

Last Thursday Alex and I found out that our sweet Bain was dying. For those of you who do not know Bain he is one of our dogs, he is a Mastiff.

Alex works with his dad Terry at his Vet Hospital and Alex had been taking Bain to work with him everday for about 2 weeks because Bain had a problem with his back legs. He is quite a big dog and very clumsy so we thought he had just sprained his ankle, but he started losing weight fast and was having a hard time walking.

Alex called me at work on Thursday to tell me we needed to discuss Bain's condition and that he wanted me to go to the Animal Clinic to talk with him. So I left work right away, somehow I already knew what he was going to tell me, but I didn't want to believe it. It was a very hard drive for me.

When I arrived at the clinic, I was a wreck. I saw Alex's face and I fell apart. Cris was there and she came in and hugged me and told me she was sorry but at this point I still didn't know what was wrong with Bain, I just wanted to talk to Terry so he could tell me what was going on.

Terry told me that our poor Bain had torn both his ACLs which was why he was walking incorrectly and dragging his feet on the cement causing his nails to bleed. Bain's bad back was the issue from the start, he had some deteriorated lumbar vertebrae in his lower back which was causing him pain. Bain had lost almost 30 pounds it seemed overnight! His muscles were deteriorating and he could not use his back legs.

Terry is the best Vet in Utah so I trust his opinion and he said basically Bain's condition would not get better. Alex and his father both agreed that there was no way he would live through any surgery because he had a gentic disease that was making him too weak. They explained that with all their experience with situations like this that it was worse to put the dog through so much torture just so we can keep him alive a little bit longer.

The following pictures are from the day Bain died, he was so skinny!

Finally I understood exactly what the consequences were and realized that Bain was in so much pain that he could never have a happy and pain free life. So the outcome of all that had happened was that Bain had to be put to sleep.

I told Alex that I wanted Bain to come back home to die with us by his side instead of at the hospital. So we brought Bain home with us and we were able to spend the last 45 minutes of his life together. Terry was kind enough to leave the hospital to put Bain to sleep in our backyard, Bain's favorite place.

I can't help but think if there was anything I could do to prevent this from happening, but Terry assured us that this was inevitable and that Bain couldn't have asked for a better life than what we were able to give him the last 2 & 1/2 years. So I can only be grateful for the time that we had with him and move on. I know this may seem very dramatic for some who do not understand how close you can become to a pet and how they can change your life, but they can and Bain did.

So You Think You Can Dance!

Can I just say WOW!?

Andrea, Talisia and I went to the So You Think You Can Dance concert last night and it was so much fun! It was crazy to see the dancers in person, seeing them on TV does not do them justice! Our voices are all raspy today from screaming so loud last night.

At your request, I humped Will for you. It was a tough favor for me to even consider but I did it just for you. Why? Because I know you would do the same for me, that's what sisters are for, right?

Look at him:

WILL. IS. AMAZING. He's got MAD skills!

Okay, pick your jaw up from the ground and wipe the drool from your chin because I have a lot more where that came from.

After the opening number, Twitch took over the microphone to start the show off. The first thing he did was raise his right arm putting his four fingers on top of his shoulder to form the now famous "4 Real" sign. And of course we returned the favor.

Talisia and Andrea with much respect.

"Twitchington" escaping from jail.

I loved this dance with Joshua and Katee. Katee is my favorite female dancer from the show; she is so amazing because she doesn't just go through the motions of the dance, she feels the dance and portrays this to the audience. You can't keep your eyes off of her when she is on stage.

Now, here is my favorite male dancer from the show, Mark. I know this picture may look a little weird but this stance is my favorite, it is just SO Mark. He is quirky and weird and crazy and pretty much the coolest dancer on the planet.

Here he is with Courtney just finishing their very raw dance to "The Garden" choreographed by Sonja. Her dances were crazy, just how I like em!

See, we liked it! The girl sitting in front of us hated our guts! You could tell she was annoyed with us yelling and jumping and throwing our bras onto the stage while proclaiming our love and devotion to Mark! Okay, maybe just the jumping and yelling part.

Fine Lindee, here is more Will:

Sorry Jessica's head is cut off, but who cares right? :o)

Yep, we got to see that all in person!

Remember this one? This one here? Where Katee and Twitch make out on stage? Nice!

How amazing are Tabatha and Napoleon? Love this choreography, love this song, love these dancers! I love Chelsea, she is "4 Real"!

Another favorite of mine from Tabitha and Napoleon.

Twitch and Comfort tearin it up.

Now this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE dance, Will and Katee's pas de deux choreographed by Desmond Richardson. I don't know if it is my love for ballet or if it is just because everything about this dance was amazing, but I'm in love with it. I could watch it over and over again all day. Although I wouldn't be able to sit still and I would dance around the house and try to get Albert to be my dance partner in the pas de deux, for some reason I don't think Al would go for that!

By the end of the show, we were exhausted! All the screaming and throwing of body parts did us in!

I think Annie approved!

"Am I Related To You?"

Dunn Family Reunion of The Killer Summer 08

We road our Harley to Park City to participate in a make-shift family reunion on the Dunn side of the family. I don't remember the last time the Dunn family were all together in the same place at the same time! Most of my Dunn relatives are from Idaho so we don't see each other often, although most of them live in Utah but I have no idea where.

This little get together was to celebrate my Grandma Geane's birthday which was actually back in March but apparently not everyone remembered her birthday which in return possessed her to send this notorious letter to all guilty parties (me included):

As you can see from the card, my grandma is a very sarcastic person and needless to say she received a lot of attention from the letters which was exactly what she was going for. So here we are, some guilty some not, making up for the missed 75 year birthday of Grandma Geane.

Here is Grandma Geane and her much older husband, Dale, blowing out their candles. I guess all of Dale's grand kids call him on his birthday because they weren't there!

I don't think there was one person there that knew everyone else's name so I went around with my camera and asked everyone:

"Am I related to you?"

If the answer was yes, I got their name and took their picture. I am now posting all the pictures and corresponding names and relations in hopes that I will never forget my Dunn relatives again!

My "Cheesy" aunt Kathy (pun intended!) She is my dad's sister and ever since I was born my dad could not for the life of him keep our names straight! I know whenever he has recently talked to Kathy because he will start calling me Kathy instead of Kelly. He is so funny, I tease him all the time about it!

From right to left (ignoring my sister Lindee who ran into the picture at the last minute!) Kathy's husband Dan, Aunt Kathy, Kathy's son Heath and his Heath's girlfriend (I didn't get her name because she answered "No" to the "Am I related to you?" question.

My cousin Brooke, Kathy's daughter. And yes, my sister Lindee...again, but isn't she cute?!?!

Okay...right to's just easier that way...My uncle Kim, my dad's older brother, the next guy is Britney's boyfriend and after him is Britney herself who is Kim's youngest daughter. Next to her is Travis, no Trevor (I think) Kim's youngest son.

There is one other cousin named Judd who didn't come to the reunion. He is Kim's middle son and I think he was my favorite out of all of them. When I was younger he used to make me laugh so hard and I always tagged along with him.

When I was living in Cedar City going to SUU I received a phone call from someone asking for Mandy. I explained that they had the wrong number and started flirting with the caller. We talked for a minute or two and I found out he was from Idaho so I told him I had family from Idaho. I proceeded to name off all my cousin's names and the caller was silent for a second before he said "Uh, I'm Judd, who is this?". Yeah, it was my cousin Judd I was flirting with!

Turns out that Grandma Geane had given him my phone number because he was in town and needed a place to stay except she told him the phone number belonged to his cousin Mandy, hello Grandma don't you remember my name? It's Kelly! Anyway, he and a friend ended up going to a concert with my roommates and I and sleeping over at our apartment, can we say awkward?

Hev, do you remember that?

This is my uncle Jared, my dad's youngest brother. I forced him to take his sunglasses off for the picture, I don't think he liked that!

So I think that's enough of the relatives for now...Here are some other pics from that fun day.

I love this picture! My bro Chad and his wife Amy and Amy's daughter Kelsi.

Me and my ever so handsome papa!

My baby sister chillin with her boyfriend.

We love each other sooooo much!

Lindee, shamefully trying to steal the umbrella from the pregnant woman!

Lin's son Logan, so innocent. You wouldn't have guessed that just a few seconds later he started yelling "SHIT" over and over again laughing harder each time he said it. Of course I had nothing to do with that!

Proof that Lance, Lindee's hubby, actually went to the reunion!

Proof that my husband beats me.

This was before I asked Albert what he thought of the reunion...

...and this is after!I think he loved it!

Roughing It

Lake Powell Trip of The Killer Summer 08

Lake Powell was fabulous! No communication with the outside world whatsoever which means I couldn't get any emails, calls, or texts on my phone so I missed all my conference calls at work but hey, there wasn't anything I could do about it!

A week of no work, what's that?

It's fabulous, that's what!

We went with the Silkman side of the family for our first bi-annual trip. This is a shot of the houseboat before we filled it up with all our gear. Yes, the guys were in heaven with the plasma TV. Talk about roughing it!

My favorite activity in Lake Powell is to lay out in the sun and read a book. Okay, and doing crossword puzzles, yes I know I am a nerd, my hubby reminds me everyday! But that's not the only thing we did.

We went wake boarding

Jet Skiin with the Hubby

Cookin Smores

Dressing up with Albert, aka Mr. Pooba

Winning (okay, losing) card games

Oh, and my second favorite, sleeping!

Now check out the cute family I married into!

My beautiful Mom-in-law. She took such good care of us, cooking, cleaning, doing laundary, and making sure we were always having a good time!

My Dad-in-law earned the name of "Anchor Man" because he was always making sure all the boats and wave runners were securely anchored down with his well thought out and complicated set up. I really appreciated him on this trip because a lot of things broke down and he was always right there fixing it so that everyone else did not have to worry and could enjoy the trip.

My adorable movie star niece Ava!

My two nephews Jaxon and Colin. I love these boys, they are so much fun. Our favorite thing to do together is play hide and seek, they could play all day if you'd let them!

My two cute sister-in-laws Rachael and Sharon laughing at a really funny joke I told. Just kidding, they were probably laughing at me! I love those two, they are so easy going and fun to talk to!

This is Clay my Brother-in-law Rachael's hubby playing with little Avers.

This is also Clay, I have no idea how he did that!

On the left is my Brother-in-law Brandon who is Sharon's hubby. This is my favorite picture of all three Silkman boys, they are pretty funny to watch when they all get together, they are so much alike.

My adorable cousin, Erin, whenever we are together we always end up painting our nails, I don't get to see her very often and I can't believe how grown up she is!

My other cousin, Colin and his friend Austin. These two are dare devils and kept us all laughing.

My favorite part about this picture is little Jaxon watching, can you find him?

My Aunt Jill is in the middle in yellow. She is so easy going and always willing to help everyone, I always enjoy talking with her.

And my absolute favorite person in the world, Albert!
