Kindle Schmindle or Kindle Foshizzle?

I got a kindle from my company for Christmas.

I haven't opened it yet.

I've never been quite sure if I'd like a kindle or not. I love the fresh smell of a brand new book and keeping them on the shelf.

Doesn't it start to hurt your eyes after a while? I'm already on a computer all day guys. I mean come on, I don't think my eyeballs can take anymore computer time after looking at porn all day. What?

So what do you think, Kindle good or Kindle bad?

Even if you don't like it, just use it in public. You'll look good and as if you're on the leading edge of all things cool.

I don't have one, but I am totally with you. It seems like it would hurt my eyes!

My ten-year-old daughter is getting one for Christmas from another relative and that made me feel old and uncomfortable. Uncomfortable because it made me feel old.

I'm with you on this one, I much prefer a good old book. Not from the library though, think of how many bathrooms they've been in! In that case, I'm pro-Kindle!

I fear books will one day disappear but I sincerely hope I don't live to see it. I much prefer a book but seriously want a kindle or its ilk because so many of the books I want to review will only come to reviewers now in ebook format. So is it good or bad? Rather like me - heh - a little of both.

My husband got one from his company, too. Like he's actually going to read anything on it. Like he reads.

I've been a book person and not sure about these, but I guess I'll try it out! I'm cheap, though, so I need to find free books. LOL

You know I love books... & I always said I'd never go to the e-book way... but now, I'm feeling swayed... I hear its actually very easy on your eyes.

You HAVE to open it so you can tell me what to do... should I get one too?????????

I dont think I could ever give up the real thing totally though... unless they burn all the books & make E-readers the ONLY way to go.

I actually just want a e-reader so I can sneak easier at work to read - haha!!!!

Can you return it and buy some actual books with the money? LOL I'm so with you on this one. I love the feel of a book in my hands. This is way too futuristic for my hippy ass.

Well... Can you get PORN for your Kindle?

I have a Nook and I love it! It doesn't hurt my eyes at all and with my old eyes you can make the print bigger making it easier to read. Books are cheaper to buy and you don't have to store all your books on a hundred book shelves. Try it and see if you like it if you don't you can always sell it on KSL.

Kindle uses e-ink which really is just like paper. I love mine and use it for hours at a time with no eye strain, which is saying a lot for me. It's really a lot different than using a computer because it's not backlit.

I say give it a try. You aren't out anything either way.

I get the opening of a book thing, love to trade books with friends, buy some, check out some from the library. But I also think the Kindle is a good thing. I would love to take that on drives with family and be able to read at night and not worry about having the light being too much for the driving hubby.

I got one last christmas and I didn't ask for it. After about 5 months I finally decided to try it out. Believe me- I really love books but I love my kindle too. So I switch back and forth between bookandmy ereader. I love when I want a book and am too lazy to go buy it at the store I can just turn on my kindle& buy it. It downloads in a minute and instant reading! Just bc you have the kindle doesn't mean you have to give up books!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my kindle!! I got it in August, right after I moved here. It doesn't hurt your eyes at all! It's non-glaring and you can change the type and size of font to your preference. I'm a total book whore and I hate waiting for books. There are thousands and thousands of FREE BOOKS you can download too, which takes about 5 seconds to get. Books on tap - heaven!

Open up the box and enjoy!!! Plus it has a web browser too. That feature is kinda slow, but cool. AND you can put your itunes music on there, for background music. AND you can have some books read to you!!

It's the coolest thing ever!!!!!!

I like my books too. But if someone bought me an Ipad, I'm sure I wouldn't complain! But I've got an attitude against kindles and nooks. I don't want them.

I like my books. I have an ipad and have downloads tons of books, but I find that I prefer reading non-electronic books best.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! What a great win!

I will be interested in hearing what you have to say about it, because I don't like the idea one bit!

Hubby got me a Kindle for my birthday - I was actually pleasantly surprised that the print looks just like that of a book page! Princess Nagger got to put it through it's paces over the weekend when we took a long (and according to her BORING) drive to Virginia to trade in my car on a different one, we thought we might have left her at home she was so quiet reading the dinosaur books I downloaded onto it for her! :)

I wanna work where you work - none of my previous employers ever gave out cool gifts like that! :)

Kindle is VERY good! And its just like reading a book, just smaller. Your eyes won't hurt from it.

I am with you -- I love the smell of books and having them on the shelf. I can't say if I am a Kindle gal or not, having never tried reading on one. But I LOVE my books.

Let us know how you like ( or don't ) it!

Hey Pooba, long time no see! Hope you are doing well after the divorce. Looks like dating sucks, ick. I haven't been around the blog-o-sphere much lately, so I'm popping around to visit some folks.

As for the Kindle, it's the bomb! I've had mine for about a year - love it, love it. Give it a try. It may grow on you.
