Murry Christman!

This may surprise you, but I did attend college. I even graduated, but with a degree in Accounting, not Orthography.

or·thog·ra·phy (ôr-thgr-f)
1. The art or study of correct spelling according to established usage and language.

If only there were such thing as spell check for manual writing, I would be celebrating Christmas, not Christman.

Making a Christmas Count Down calendar has been a tradition in my family ever since I was a wee little drooling one. My lil sis and I are trying to continue this tradition with our own families so we put our two blond heads together last Sunday determined to make the best Christmas Count Down ever.

We made plans for an extravagant countdown using actual Christmas material, with needles & threads, hung on wooden rods with sparkly ribbons & fancy wooden letters, but after chasing Logan (my nephew) through Walmart Lin & I came home with about 9 bags of candy & plain white poster board.

Which is why we ended up stealing what materials we could scrounge up at my mom's house hoping she wouldn't notice that we horded her sacred Christmas tree bows of which Lindee carefully chopped up and ironed with baby sis's stolen flat iron in attempt at giving my poster some dignity since I cannot spell.

After a few hours of making a mess of my mom's dining room floor, tying Logan to a tree outside so he wouldn't color on our posters, and leaving our husbands to fend for themselves, we finally finished our make-shift count down calendars.

Of course the spelling error was not my fault directly. I blame Alex.

If he wouldn't have given me Silkman as my last name, this never would have happened. After writing Silkman for 7 years after my name, it's no wonder I automatically finished Christmas with an 'n' instead of an 's'.

So because of my hubster, we, the Silkman's, will be celebrating Christman this year.

(If I receive ANY comments about how my Christman Count Down calendar has no numbers or how we can't hang it up because the weak little poster board can in no way hold the 10 pounds of candy that we meticulously tied to it with festive red and green ribbons, I will hunt you down, tie you to a chair, sit on your lap and sing "Murry Christman Darling" over & over.)

Moral of the story: Don't ever leave two blonds unsupervised with scissors, glue, and candy!

Hhahahahaaa!! That's hilarious! Very creative. We know you really meant to spell it that way, just so you could start your own tradition with it, right? ;0)

HAHAHAHAHA! I laughed out loud! But up until the end I thought you did it on purpose. I'm blond too!

It's really cute! That is so funny-Christman is actually my parent's friend's last name, they'd probably love it!

What a good idea.

PS ROFL about your hubby putting on a show for your cats......hahahahaha!

Laughing and trying not to pee!!

Now, seriously, how can you say that about blondes and scissors, tehe? Blondes are notorious for being careful, thoughtful, wonderful, safe, generous, and every other adjective that is good-- didn't you know that?

I know...you were just being modest...another wonderful trait of blondes!

So funny! Hey, that's ok. It gives it character! You'll remember this forever. I, for one, love it. And I'll smack anyone that doesn't. :)

I am getting the feeling that Christmas is a little like Halloween at your house. Maybe you should be calling this holiday "Chris-oween-man" or something like that. ;)

I bet you were looking at the snowmen beneath and subconsciously wrote Christman like Snowman. HAHAHA! Too funny! Such a cute idea though, girl!

LOL! That is so something I would do. I love the idea though!

Holy crap that was the funnest night ever! We laughed for like 10 minutes after you wrote that, I bet Bob thinks we are crazy giggling like 13 year old girls on the phone with our boyfriends, Our calenders will be amazing next year. By the way a hammer and nails was then only thing to hold mine, after I ate like a pound of candy off of it.

That countdown calendar is very cool...and I appreciate the originality of your spelling. Make the holidays your own, that's what I always say.

(I don't usually say "Hijack the name and change the spelling," but I think it's implied.)

Merry Christman!

XO

Anna
