It Pays to Procrastinate

That was the lesson I learned yesterday while I was sitting at my desk at work, listening to my favorite radio station X96.

Let me back up.

Alyse, Andrea, and I will be going to the Fall Out Boy concert in April and I was supposed to buy the tickets a long long time ago but I just haven't gotten around to it. American Idol has just monopolized my time, well, that and all the other shows sitting on my DVR waiting to be watched. Life is so hard.

So back to yesterday, I heard on the radio that they were giving away tickets if you could unscramble the words in the title of a song. They've been doing this awhile now and I had no intention of ever playing because you just can't get through by telephone. But yesterday I just went for it.

I dialed and it was busy. Redialed....busy. Redialed...busy. Redialed..."Hello X96?"

At that point I freaked out and yelled "20 Dollar Nose Bleed!"

I was so loud that I'm sure I woke up my sleeping nephew 40 minutes away! Lo and behold I won! I was so excited but after my little screaming about nose bleeds, people were beginning to peak into my office to see if I was being raped, so I tried to calm myself down and started whispering instead. The radio guy probably thought I was a freak!

I won tickets to the Fall Out Boy concert! Woot! Woot! It's a good thing I'm a procrastinator and didn't buy the tickets a few weeks ago like I had planned! After I hung up with the guy I heard myself on the radio and about died, I sounded like a blubbering idiot!

So now I have a problem. I won two tickets but there are three of us going. To whom do I give the other ticket? Here are my options...

1. Give it to my baby sis Alyse who is a single starving college student but doesn't have a family to feed. Wait, scratch the starving part, she still lives at home, but she needs her big sister's help to get back out into the dating world after having one boyfriend for years. She needs to go out and have a good time, but she was planning to pay for the ticket herself anyway.

2. OR Give it to my fabulous friend Andrea, who after all beautified my hair this week with her genius coloring ability and I think I totally under tipped her! Plus she works 2 jobs, but she too was planning on paying for the ticket herself. (Yes I totally stole this pic from her blog)

3. OR give it to my little sis Lindee, who I had already invited but she couldn't go because she needed to save her money to buy her school books. She has admitted she's not a huge fan of Fall Out Boy but has expressed her jealousy that Alyse and I are going without her.

Decisions, decisions. If you know me, I cannot decide by myself so I need your help!

Who should I give the extra ticket to?

UPDATE: Lindee has now written her plea on her blog of why she deserves the free ticket.

UPDATE #2: Alyse (the baby sis) has now written her plea in the comments as Anonymous. By the length of her comment I think it's time she gets her own blog don't you?

I would draw their names out of a hat. Seriously it works great. OR you could take me instead and then you don't leave any of them out.

That's awesome you one! I agree with Chel. Draw names so no one feels hurt.

You're going to throw that decision to the masses???? Are you going soft now? I think you use the random number generator at the bottom right column of TAG, assigning numbers 1-3 to each lady. Using the generator takes your hands entirely out of the hat! You can stay totally impartial!

First of all - YIPEE!!! You won.. isnt' that great!!! God WANTS you to ROCK OUT!!!

Next - dang... I thought you should give it to the one who couldnt afford it, but then read she's not that big of a fan & just wanted to go cuz she didnt want to be left out...

I say you have a fight club & last person standing gets it! See who's really dedicated!! JOKING!

I think a fair thing is drawing it out of a hat or something too! Cant wait to see how it goes!

My boyfriends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My hubs only allows me to have a select few of them, but they are definitely my loves.

Take me! Hahahaha. you like how everyone else is trying to actually help you and I selfishly add myself to the list out of nowhere... sheesh what a jerk.

Decisions make me want to cry. I can't decide which can of beans I should get at the wallymart let alone anything else in life so good luck!!

i agree with commentor numero uno, you need to draw out of a hat, cause im still pissed my bee fri gave a VIP ticket to a girl she has barely even known for a year to KNOTB that she won on the radio....so do it the fair way girl.

And im sorry you no win....maybe next time ill "randomly" pick you on purpose ;)

AWESOME!! congrats...

ok you can't choose between sisters so you need to take the friend.

Mandy said...

Agreed...you can't choose between your sisters. Take the friend. :)

ChicagoLady said...

Ask the three of them who they think you should take. And the person who says to take one of the other two, take that person. The others are just being selfish.

WHAT??? Your leaving up to the decision of american bloggers to decide my fate! Well then I'm just going to have to convince everyone why it should be me... Go to my blog NOW

I'd give it to the sis who EXPRESSED JEALOUSY or else you will have a family incident on your hands. ~Mary

PICK ME PICK ME! WOW- THAT IS SO COOL U WON KEL. CONGRATS. I SAY LIN. SHE IS A MOM GOING TO SCHOOL, OR LET THEM SPLIT THE TICKET AND THEY EACH PAY HALF! THEY BOTH WIN!

Anonymous said...

Well if everyone is going anyways then just have the rest of them split the prices of the ticket(s) and you'll have enough tickets and everyone's was a lot cheaper!

I say Lindee. My heart strings tug at the starving student. Love your hair color! Looks awesome

This is Alyse, the sister that actually likes Fall Out Boy and has been looking forward to the concert for some time now. There have been a lot of good suggestions on who should get the ticket. I'd feel kind of greedy telling everbody why I should get it... By the way that's so awesome that you won! Anyhoo...
I'm kind of mad at Lindee right now because she stole my ski pants and we're all supposed to go skiing tommorow and since you're using all of mom's stuff I don't have any pants unless I steal them from Lindee. Which I will, because she is tall, ditsy and her name is Lindee, not to mention she loses everything that she "borrows" (without permission so it's BASICALLY stealing). Is that a reason why she shouldn't get the ticket? YOU decide! But then again she did give birth to a baby that I like to steal... and she is pretty cool cuz she works her butt off... But she doesn't even LIKE Fall Out Boy! I mean why would you want to go to a concert when you don't even like the band?! She said she would research them so she knows all the words, but guess who already knows all the words? ME! Like I don't want the ticket to go to waste and if you give it to her and she doesn't have a good time then it will be going to waste. Although I do want her to come cuz she's really fun... Can you tell I both love and hate my dearest little sister Lindee? (and by the way you are both MY little sisters because whenever my daddy calls me he says "have you heard from your little sisters?" and we all know that dad's word definitely over rules things such as "age" and "chronological order") Well, I don't necessarily hate her, I just hate when she does stupid things like borrows all my clothes and loses them! Thank goodness she moved out of the house so I know where all my stuff is now! But I do miss her... she's just freakin blonde! Wow I'm blabbering on about nothing right now... Maybe I should get my own blog cuz this is fun! You can teach me tonight when you come to sleep over :)
Anyhoo, I don't really know Andrea at all... Maybe she deserves the ticket. She is pretty bad ace at coloring hair and she actually likes Fall Out Boy... and those are definitely two legit qualities that are good to have at a concert. Cuz you never know when someone at a concert is going to need an emergency hair dye...
Honestly it would be nice to get a free ticket so I could have the extra money to buy other things, but I definitely think if anybody needs extra money, it's Lindee. The thing that makes me mad about her is that she just wants to go cuz she's jealous that I'm the favorite sister, which we all know is true.
Kel! this is hard! I'm not very good at arguing why I should get the ticket huh... Basically all it comes down to is that as long as I get to go then I'll be happy. So you better get more than just the two tickets so we all can go no matter what! And just one of us gets it free or whatever. I'm pretty sure I'm not making any sense anymore... I just want to go whether I have to pay or not. Hopefully that makes things easier for you :) I gotta go be a nanny now! I love you Kelly! Bye Bye

Ooohhh...I feel bad getting in the middle of this, after reading your sister's plea...I say, draw straws.

Lee said...

I'd go with Alyse.
Why?

Because I closed my eyes and pointed at the screen and that was who I pointed at.
That's the best way to choose.

Karin Katherine said...

OMG< I came over here wanting to support Lindee...but then Alyse makes a good point and YES she needs a blog. Plus she is a NANNY and hello? I need a nanny! So maybe if I vote for her she will quit her nanny job and move to Florida to nanny for me? Well, she probably won't.

I think it has to be a sister that goes. Even though Lindee doesn't know about the band she is a mama that could use a night out, loves her sisters so much that she is jealous of not hanging with them and like you said, Alyse could go anyway....but here is a dumb question. Can you buy another ticket and get it next to the free seats that you have? I don't think so...so I think you better just take Alyse....I feel totally guilty. I'm sorry Lindee....I'll mail you a consolation prize or something. Maybe something out of my "beauty bag"....

LadyStyx said...

I'd go with either Yaya or Chicago's suggestion...although chel's idea was a good one too.

Anonymous said...

You gotta draw. Although honestly, I think you and your sisters are so close that you're not gonna lose either one of them no matter what. Hey, maybe that means no sisters, just your friend. But, that's not right. Draw for it. or random.org because that's fun.

Michelle said...

My vote is for Lindee because I understand how bad sometimes you just need a night out with the girls. Plus the other two were planning on paying for their tix anyway so what's the big deal?

angie said...

I'm going to agree with Yaya. Instead of them paying full price, the 3 of them would split the price of 2 tickets.

How exciting that you won!

Pooba, why don't you call me when you are faced with such important decisions? As your blog partner in crime, I of course have the answer.

Lindee and Alyse should both go. You may stay home. Think of it as your higher calling.

PS: I neglected to respond to your question about my nicknames. Here they are, in no particular order:

Fran
Frannie
Franner
Cesca
Cesca-Doo (Only my mother gets away with that one.)

Wonderous Being

I encourage all of my new friends to call me that one. You may too!

If I said I want to go to there would you pick me?

This is quite a pickle. As much as I HATE to say this, I think you should take.................Alyse (I'm sweet like that). There, I said it. You owe it to her for never talking about her in "the chair". It's true, you really never did. (sorry Alyse) And she seems to REALLY want this. All the lyrics memorized...Lindee stole her stuff...the pajama wearing incidents....it's only fair. The girl DESERVES this. And I would feel like a poopsicle if I went and caused your two fabulous sister's ,who are very cleverly pleading their cases, to stay home and study/keep wearing pajamas. It just wouldn't be right. Not right at all. And we have other bonding moments. I DID invite you to Shut Up and Dance, cuz I'm awesome. I doubt I'll go and win tickets and then leave your fate up to The Internet. Only A holes do that.

Mwahahaha

P.S. I too love your hair. I wanna put it on toast and eat it, that's how much I love it. It's like BUTTA

P.P.S. Take me

Hi there...saw your blog from one of the ones I follow...So cute! And I do say...i LOVE the color. I just had mine done on friday, and did not get the blonde I was hoping for...better go back!! Good luck with the choosing!! You could just give it to a certain STRANGER...that way no one close to you gets offended...LOL!!!

Congrats on the win. Isn't that exciting. I never won on the radio but I won tickets to the movies on the TV morning news. I was trying to win an autographed baseball hat and got the stupid tickets I couldn't even use. But, it was still exciting to win.
