My Apologies to Costa Rica

As promised, the last night of our trip was the best time I've ever had. As Suzi so gently put it, I prayed to the porcelain gods.

But listen how sweet my hubster is. He was up with me rubbing my back while I was puking. He brought in all the bedding from the bedroom so I could sleep on the bathroom floor. When he had to use the bathroom at 4 in the morning, he walked all the way outside and downstairs to use the public restroom, almost getting eaten by a giant lizard on his way!

So here I am, puking but warm and comfy with all the pillows and blankets while Albert is in the next room shivering. I thought he at least had a sheet, at least that's what he told me, but no, he stayed up all night checking on me and taking care of me.

Don't let his big bad ass exterior fool ya, he's just a big teddy bear! He packed all our things for me in the morning and let me sleep in.

Now when I pack for a trip, I make a list of everything and label our ziplock bags so I know what goes in each bag. Well Alex was smart enough to keep one of the empty ziplock bags in case I had to puke in it. This bag was labeled FACE. So the next morning we have to take a 2 hour bus ride to the airport in San Jose.

A 2 HOUR BUS RIDE THROUGH THIS:

No smooth highways here! Just bumping Up & down and winding around. (I'm a poet) So there we are on the bus with 50 other people. Five minutes into the ride I was going to puke. I stand up and turn around and this woman has her legs up resting on the seat across the aisle from her blocking my way. I gagged and 'bout threw up in her lap. She looked up at my white face and bulging eyeballs and lucky for her, she moved her legs just in time!

So I ran to the back of the bus and threw up in my "FACE" labeled ziplock bag. Alex of course came back to help me through the rest of the bus ride. After I had nothing left to throw up, I zipped up the bag of throw up (It was all water people, I hadn't eaten anything that morning) and set it on the floor below me so I could throw it away at the airport.

When torture was over and we arrived at the airport, I reached down to pick up my "FACE" bag and realized that it had a hole in it and it had spilled out all over the floor. Alex and I looked at eachother, grabbed the rest of our stuff and ran off the bus. Yep, we left the puky "FACE" bag on the floor of the bus.

So here is my apology to whoever in Costa Rica had to clean up my puke. I'm SORRY! I was dilusional and my husband had no sleep, we didn't know what we were doing!

Your husband is so sweet.I'm jealous. My husband's theory is to leave me alone when I'm sick because that's what he wants when he is sick. To be left alone.

That was so sweet of Al to take care of you that way!

I can just imagine the smell for the next group getting onto the bus. Ewwwwwwww

Ok so you are now sort of prepared for what morning sickness feels like. Except imaging that for weeks at a time... Or in my case the entire pregnancy (s).

"That which does not kill you, makes you stronger." I just had to add that in for good measure too. I am sure it makes you feel better.

OH MY GOODNESS.... I hate throwing up! And to have to travel while feeling that way - bless your heart.

But what an awesome husband!!!! My husband would have been staying away from me acting like he didnt even know who I was!!!

EWWW...did the puke seep around everyone's feet while it leaked... oh my....

glad you're feeling better though! And again - big props to the hubs!

Oh NO!!! Though, I can't say I wouldn't have done the exact same thing. I'm glad Al was there to take care of you and return you safely home.

Ok can I just go back a sec, I am in shock... no not because of how sweet your hubby is, not because of the puke in your holy FACE bag (which is ridiculously perfect), but Al almost got eaten by a giant lizard....??? Um I've seen your husband and so I ask you, what kind of monster lizard is lurking in costa rica... godzilla?? thing musta been HUGE.

Sorry to hear you got so sick!

That was really good thinking on Al's part to bring an extra puke bag for you. Way to go man! If it makes you feel any better, (i doubt it will, but it might make you smile) I pee'd my pants on a 2 hour bus ride once. The driver wouldn't stop and I warned him I would pee my pants if he didn't. I literally drank a gallon of water right before we got on and there is no stopping fluids like that once the dam breaks. So once we finally stopped, I ran. There is no reason to stick around for puke or pee. Remind me never to be a bus driver;)

girl i relate in soo many ways to this story, only i wasnt in beautiful costa rica....

my 23rd bday i got so smashed ( i NEVER throw up) that i threw up in my good friend chris's bath tub because i was soo disoriented i couldnt find the toilet. My husband kept running in and out of the bathroom to hold my hair....take a breathe in the hallway....hold my hair....take a breath.....it was my birthday, i had chicken strips and honey mustard and mashed potatoes....apparently the fragrance that mixture produces isnt good.....lol

Anyway, we ended up leaving because he was afraid i had alcohol poisoning and good ole chris was left to clean up my mess....NICE

That's one heck of a memory! I'm just glad it was on the last night of the trip and not the first.

At least it was watery though, right?
Could've been a lot worse!

Donnetta said...

OMG - that is hysterical. I'm laughing with you, sister, not at you. :) BUT, the good news is that it was watery, not chunky monkey! Maybe it just ran out the back of the bus rather than pooling on the floor!!! :)

LOL----you owe Al (Albert, Alex, etc.) big time!

I just loved reading how kind and sweet your hubs is!!! It makes me giggle how lovely you guys are -- but I'm not laughing that you were sick:(

Damn, I would be pissed if I was the one who stepped and slipped on your FACE ziplock baggie...

Cute and funny post - loved it!

What? No actual photos of said event to accompany the post? Disappointing!

Somehow I doubt that you and hubby looked this good as you boarded the plane for your ride home. Lovely picture, nonetheless, though. :)

OH NO! hahaha that would be something I would do. That remninds me of our trip to Mexico when our youngest daugther gunned her four wheeler right through a raw sewer drainage flow thing. Anyway Poop all over. We had a 2 hr. bus ride back to the resort. I need to post about that.

Oh, that is awful! I was getting queasy just reading it!

I am SO confused. Is you hub Alex or Albert, or am I just not in on the joke?

Either way, he's a keeper. My guy can't handle the vomit...he may have left me in CR. :)

Damn girl!! What and how much of it did you drink??? You have a really great hubby to take care of you like that! Next time don't let him let you be so silly!!!
