If A Bank Robber Can Find It, So Can I!

This morning as I sit down to write a brilliant, well thought out post, I look outside the window at the city below and my heart swells with...nothing.

Nada.

I want to write about the party last weekend but my brain is still asleep and that's just not happenin.

I want to write about how I am pregnant and quiting my job to be a stay at home mom, but that just hasn't happened.

I also want to write about how I cleaned and organized my whole house over the weekend, but that didn't happen either.

So here I am waiting for the coffee to kick in and brilliance to spring forth from my fingertips and it's just not happenin folks. Not that I ever write anything exceptional, I'm just sayin it might be nice for a change.

I can sum up the problem I've been having lately in one word,

Motivation.

How do you keep up your motivation? I think my supply has dried up, it's just non existent right now. What motivates you to clean the house? To go to work? To go to the gym? To rob that bank you've been eyeing? To get up in the morning and start your day?

What's your motivation, and can I borrow it?

I 'bout fell over with the pregnancy comment.

Too early for motivation. There's your excuse. Now later on today, I am not sure what you can use as an excuse.

Ah, why I love some of the 'theme days' out there in bloggy land - Music Monday, Wordless Wednesday - great breaks in the land of needing motivation for something to write about.

Motivation to clean the house - hmmm, maybe I'll have a glass of wine instead.

Let me know if you find it! I've been lacking in the motivation department severely lately and it sucks! BLAH!

I'm with you, Pooba! So if you find that "motivation in a bottle", let me know so I can get some too!! I really need to get to the gym, for one thing!!

I have absolutely no motivation anymore. If you find an endless stream, please share.

Took the words right outta my mouth.

I have NO motivation whatsoever right now. Cried about it last night actually. It's killin me!

Ah, so that is why you have 218 people following your blog----you are supposed to write inspiring, motivating posts? You dear friend don't need special motivation. Your commentary and personality shine through. Making even a post about not having a post----one that elicits comments and smiles.

Look at the 218 followers to your right? Look at your precious family. Look at your gorgeous blog.
Motivated?

I think so.

Motivation?? Never heard of it, her, them or him!
If you meet it, her, them or him will you introduce me??

Hmmmmm. Motivation. Today I don't have any either. I am going to a birthday lunch for my grandson and that isn't even doing it.

I know there are times when we just simply have to dig it up from somewhere deep inside, you know like your anus, or I guess I should say gut.

I just keep on keepin on and then suddenly it comes back, something will make it return. So until then ... let's both just go through the motions. Maybe I should start drinking coffee no booze, nah as you can see I am not the right person to talk to on this subject today. Sorry. Have a good one ha ha ha.

Not to get all crazy morbid on you but I had a death in the family yesterday that has shaken us to the core. Don't think I'm nuts for escaping to blog world, I just need to be distracted for a moment. BUT, I just want to say that the motivation you need is right in front of you, it's your life. It's your family, and all around you. ENJOY IT while you have it, ya know?

That's like my jewelry making muse. I swear she is on a drunken binge on some beach having way more fun than me...

Perhaps your motivation is with my muse.

Motivation comes and goes. When it goes you just have to force yourself. And once you have kids? There's no longer a choice. Their mere existence demands that you have your shit together.

Just pull yourself up and force yourself, and eventaully it will come back in it's own!

If you find your motivation maybe mine is there with yours hanging out doing nothing. Mine has been long gone.

And, are you just announcing you are pregnant or have I not read this before? Congrats either way!

JennyMac said...

Life observations are my motivation...and sometimes people who do/say things I simply can NOT believe. LOL.

Jen said...

I don't know, I don't really have the motivation to write a decent comment.

Kristina P. said...

I think mine ran off with yours.

I get the motivation to clean when I'm upset. Lol. Or when I just get the spring bug.

Exercise - don't you cuss like that. I'm looking for the motivation on this too, when you find it, can you ship it my way?

To work - ahhh, bills are usually the reason.

Not interesting in banks, I work in finance, so it'd feel like I was going to work, you know? Or robbing work - NOT a good idea.com

BUT.... that said... that latest "robbery" around these parts - Dunkin Donuts. Yeah, we have REALLY bright thieves in the area. They rob a dunkin donuts - just how many donuts do they think sell on average. And.... what's the running joke about where cops usually go to - donut shops - HELLO!

What is this motivation of which you speak? (Off to consult Webster's)

Oh Kel you are so stinkn cute!! You don't need to get anything done that you don't already have done... hmmm, did that even make sense?!

This is temporary. Go look out the other window.

We love you avec ou sans motivation.

I thought, "oh my gah, she really is pregnant!" But then, nope. You got me too. ha...

If you find that motivation, can you share? I'm in desperate need as well.

Motivation?
gym: set a goal, mine is 1/2 marathon
clean house: a party, Tomato Harvest Party
get up in morning: get kids off to school
rob a bank: pay our debts off, still working on the particulars

I don't know...I guess I just do it because I have to. I'm not too excited about my job but I'm able to sneak in some writing. I'm working on a novel every day that may or may not ever be published...but I just keep going.

I have to agree with a previous commenter the pregnancy comment knocked me over!! I didn't know!

LadyStyx said...

Oh hunny. If I had ANY motivation, I'd certainly loan you some. Here it is, Wednesday and the only entries that went up this week are the What Do You See clouds. *sigh*. I've got at least 3 more entries in draft...well at least their pix are there... and another 5-10 years worth of story to write in the Phoenix blog. Do you think I accomplished any of that today? Nope. I haven't even painted today and I have that give away to finish. *ugh*

I don't have motivation to do anything either.

My life is boring!!

I don't think anyone wants to hear how boring I am.

MJW said...

It's summer - I don't have motivation either! A friend of mine and I used to ask if we could buy some motivation at our j-o-b's. :) Sadly you can't do that either! Maybe you are just in a funk. This too shall pass!

PS: I love your blog colors!

I have no motivation.
Hard enough getting out of bed this morning.
I hate getting dumped.

I had to create my own motivation. Started a weight-loss contest with my aunt (winner gets a pedi) and signed up for a 5K in my hometown (which is so small I'll know most of the people) because I don't want to look like a complete doof. I don't really have motivation, I have no choice... but that's the only way I'll get anything done.

Good luck getting your motivation back. Those days suck pickles.

I wish I had motivation. Mine comes in waves. It's all or nothing around here.

Last few days was my moment and now it came to you.Oh dear...

I gained my motivation usually from having lots of fun and did crazy things with my Love one - also with my girlfriends then later that day, had a real talk and they'll came up with lots of wonderful words to kick me up and back to my goals

Btw . . my bedroom's looks like rubbish bin at the moment :( oh I really need to do something about it LoL

Aw sweetie...this happens to the best of us. Sometimes you just need to take a break...step away from it and give creativity a chance to come back. We'll all be here when you get back! I have no idea where my motivation comes from half the time. It is all so random. Sometimes a song on the radio triggers a blog post. Sorry I am not more help.

Jason, as himself said...

I guess I'm pretty self-motivated, although it has its ebb and flow. I might spend a day or two feeling unmotivated but it usually comes back without my having to will it to happen.

UNLESS it is something that I absolutely have no intention of ever doing. Like going to the gym. Or running a mile. Then I don't care.

You are me last week. I was all, "where is my mojo?" "where did my writing powers go?" "do I know how to write a sentence any more?" "do I really want to keep blogging?"

I guess all bad things pass. Get of yer keyster and something is bound to happen sooner or later.

AiringMyLaundry said...

I wish my motivation would come back.

I think it's still on vacation.

*Sighs*

When you find that motivation, please send some my way.

I'll tell you, when I really find the motivation to clean my house, is when someone is coming over! Which usually happens about once a week, so I clean it really good once a week. That's all I got. ;)

Maki said...

HA HA HA!!

I didn't have any motivation either - that's why I didn't blog for a week. Well, I was sick, but at least you could blog about not having any motivation and still getting a ton of comments. That's something, ya know...

xoxo

I cant believe you freaken wrote about this! I think that we have the same mind which would be amazing but sad (for me mostly) but This weekend I didn't clean at all because I didn't feel like it. I was so lazy and mopey and Lance gave me crap so I went on STRIKE! Seriously we had it out and I'm on strike from doing any housework. I dont even remember why I bothered in the first place, cleaning sucks. He said I was a bad housewife and I said that when he found a real job that payed all the bills so I could be a housewife then he could bitch.... He is kinda mad at me for that one. But anyway we should be unmotivated together.

My fault about being pregnant!! I read it wrong!! Hope you find your motivation soon!

Sara said...

I throw a party to get motivated to clean my house. Or have surgery. :O

Hope you find your blogging mojo. Summer is the best motivator, then Fall but I'm worried about Winter, it's kinda hard to stay motivated. I'd rather curl up and read for 4 months.

I would love to be able to say that I cleaned my whole house!! OK...

I am going for it!! REALLY!! ...

ok maybe not.

Debbie said...

Very little motivates me to clean the house - except for a deep seated fear of rodents. As for the gym - even rodents wouldn't help that!

Barely Domestic Mama said...

When you find it let me know...this summer heat is just taking all the fun out of me. :)

AdriansCrazyLife said...

Ah Pooba, you got the blahs? That's no fun. I haven't got the blahs, I've just got the mad and yelling at everyone thing. Probably something hormone related. Oh well, I'm sure we'll both get over it. As for the cleaning motivation, that's easy. Just invite a houseful of people over. That will motivate you like there's no tomorrow! Cheers.

It's just the dog days of summer. I think everyone is lacking motivation. We could look for it in my bounce house?

Anonymous said...

Motivation for me kicks in at 9:00 PM. Which is also when the margaritas kick in.

Megan said...

Uuhhhh....motivation? What's that?

I can't tell you the last time I went to the gym.

The last time I worked was sometime the beginning of February and I'm only half-heartedly looking for another job.

My house? Usually a disaster. The only reason it's not a complete pig-stye right now is cuz we went on vacation and had a birthday party the day before we left, which gave us the motivation to clean.

Let me know if you find it, mmm-kay?

Xazmin said...

Okay, I so feel your pain. I want to know what motivates people too. I swear I must be the laziest person on the face of the planet.

Justine said...

Wish I had answers for you, but unfortunately my supply of motivation is even more scarce than yours. I don't even have a job to go to, but if I did? I totally wouldn't go. My house? It's a wreck.

Justine :o )
