Did I forget to mention...

...that we ran over a deer last weekend? Yep, on the way to the movies no less.

There we were, driving along Bangerter highway when it happened. Albert was driving while I was blabbering away, raising my voice in an attempt to be heard over the blasting music.

Rap music no less.

(Sorry, that's two "no lesses" in like four sentences, what does that phrase even mean anyway?)

Up ahead, Albert noticed a car oddly parked on the side of the road and a few cars touching their breaks. Then the car directly in front of us swerved to the right at which point we saw it, lying directly in front of us, a huge buck lying in the middle of the road, antlers pointing straight up.

Albert quickly assessed the situation and realized that we would not be able to swerve out of the way seeing as there were cars on either side of us. At first glance, I thought it was a pile of wood but that thought quickly changed when Albert said,

"Hold on, WE'RE. ABOUT. TO. RUN. OVER. A. DEER."

I grabbed the OS (Oh Shit) handle and braced myself for impact. I then heard a clunking sound as the buck's antlers passed underneath my feet.

And then it was over.

We had just glided over the buck with no problem at all. I should inform you that we were driving the Hummer so Albert was pretty confident that we would run right over the poor guy.

"Something definitely flashed there!" I said, still gripping the OS handle.

"Do you mean your life flashed before your eyes?" He smirked.

"Um something like that. I don't know what, but something definitely flashed!"

"Oh Poob." He said rolling his eyes. (He seems to do that a lot, I think he should get his eyes checked or something.)

"I felt his antlers under my feet!" I shuddered.

At this point we were both excited feeling indestructible and thinking we were pretty hot stuff for being alive at that moment.

I should have realized that the Buck was no big deal, during the winter Al constantly runs the Hummer through huge snow banks on the side of the road just because he can. And now he wants to sell it? I don't think so.

Bucks? Meh. No big deal.

Bring on the Elephants.

Why do I think that's sad when my family hunts them? We've had one strung in our backyard at one point - sorry to offend anyone with that comment.

I am such a wuss. I ran over a frog once and felt bad about it.

Clearly, I need to get a grip. :)

I'm totally impressed you were able to run over a buck without damaging your car. Those things are notorious for killing vehicles. Keep the Hummer!

I did that once!! What was sad about it was that so many cars had run over the deer that the middle of the deer was a concave. full head and butt on either side, but the middle was all bowed in. It would appear that a lot of cars ran over it in the same spot over and over. *shudders* I can still feel the crunch under my feet though. And this was 20 years ago!

I hit a deer once like 10 years ago and now I'm over on alert for deer.

I'm terrified of deer. Ever since one jumped out and hit my car a few years ago. Joe was driving so it was pretty much his fault.

Poor buck.

Now the idiot that was going to poach the antlers and claim they shot the trophy buck won't be able to thanks to the hummer.

heh heh

Glad you and the car are OK

MAN! Hummers are awesome. My mom had a range rover, hit a deer, and it dented her brush bar. She was in an accident with a sportscar...the sportscar was all crumpled up but you couldn't even see a dent on the Range Rover. The only thing that ever got her was that darn deer! Those things can do some damage.

Just goes to show how twisted you really are that you got a kick out of running over an already-run-over buck. I would have been sobbing in misery!!! You? Get excited about feeling the antlers thump beneath your feet. Sicko!

Tommy: Where are we gonna take the deer?
Richard: I dunno, the vet?
Tommy: You take dead animals to the vet?
Richard : Why not? I'd take you to the vet.
Tommy: Yeah I'll take you to the... Um...
Richard : Got that?
Tommy: Shut up.

That would have freaked me out. Big time. You sure the antlers didn't do any damage to the undercarriage of the Hummer? Oh, what am I saying...they're indestructible, right? Glad you're OK, though! :)

There is a pack of deer (about 19) that like to sprint across a busy road in the morning. So far...

I have not hit them!!! The city needs to cull the herd for us. (yes.. this means kill bambi) I figure some poor child will get seriously hurt when a mom drives them to school in the morning. Unfortunately, this will probably get the city to finally do something about the pack of deer which will be a little late.

The deer like to eat all my scrubs and flowers too. I can deal with this...

I just don't like bambi trying to kill me every morning in my little Honda.

Wish I were driving that when I hit that stupid deer that almost totalled my BRAND new car!

I know at our local Hummer car lot, they have an obstacle course where it shows how it goes over hills & bumps... maybe they can use a deer as an example :)

If it makes you feel better I ran over a dog laying in the middle of the lane. I didn't have the opportunity to swerve away either, thump thump it went and then the boys asked "What was that?" We were on our way to school.
