There's Pains In My Heart Place

My husband is heartbroken. He's losing his is best friend. They've been so close for so long it is just sad that this has to happen now. His friend has always been there for him, whenever Al is stressed or frustrated he could hang out with his friend and his worries would disappear. I'm not going to reveal this friend's name for privacy sake, but you know who you are.

You'd think I'd be jealous right? Well to be honest I was at first. But then I realized that I should actually be grateful for him. I know how important my friends are in my life so anyone who can make my hubster happy is always welcome in our lives.

And God knows every wife needs a break from these massive forms of testosterone. It's nice to be able to bake without being groped from all angles so I appreciate this friend. And really, he is my friend too. Of course I'm not as close to him as Al is, but we do have a good relationship. We respect each other and the role we each play in Al's life.

Hell, even I love having this dude around. And, strange as it seems, he's actually brought Al and I closer together. I know that sounds weird but it's true.

We're going to miss him, but I know that once this stage of our life has passed, there will be other friends to come our way. You may be wondering if we love this dude so much then why are we losing him?

Well our buddy is moving away and I know very well that we could continue a long distance relationship with him but, surprisingly Al has decided against it. Since Al will be going to Law School next year and won't have time for much else he'd end up neglecting him anyway. Al didn't want to put him through that, so he's cutting him loose now.

Geez, it sounds like he's breaking up with a girlfriend doesn't it? I know you probably think I'm being over dramatic, but for us, it truly is.

When Al told me what he planned to do I was shocked. I mean, how can you let someone who is such a big part of your life go like that? Of course it isn't easy for Al, when the subject comes up he gets his adorable sad boy look on his face, points to his chest and says,

"There's pains in my heart place."

And then I in turn kiss his chest right above his heart in order to "make it all better". Because that's what moms wives do.

But this too shall pass. Our life will go on, our friend's life will go on. So I just wanted to publicly thank our dear friend for all the good times.

You will truly be missed.

Goodbye Hoggy.

When he goes through his midlife crisis, there will pains in his heart place and pains in his head, because he'll be repeatedly thumping it as he calls himself a stupid idiot for getting rid of it.

At first I'm reading this all serious-like, then as I kept going I knew it was the damn bike! :)

I know losing friends is hard, but at least it was a good ride.
(har har)

And, of COURSE Hoggy brought you and Al closer-- I mean, you have to spoon when you ride together! (tee heeeee... I'm thinking SO dirty!)

Teehee-- too cute! Thanks for the kind words re my blog. Any idea how to un-embed my comments? Usually my son does my nerdy computer work, but he gets just too darned embarrassed on my Brown Bag Site :-)

Hahaha... I had to go re-read your post after seeing that picture. Too funny! But still sad, of course. :(

My hubby is debating about his Beemer bike. He hasn't ridden it in several years.

AHAHAHAHAHA! I'm sorry, I probably shouldn't be laughing...but it is kinda funny. What, is he going through opposite-midlife crises? Is this opposite day? ;)

I. Love. It.

And I'm sorry for the loss of such an awesome friend. There will be more awesome friends like that one, I'm sure of it. ;)

Too funny! LOL The nice things about friends is that some day you'll walk down the street and think you see his fender out of the corner of your eye and you'll remember all the good times. :)

NO! GET OUT! He's selling his Harley? But that's just insanity! This whole post I thought maybe he was getting rid of the TV. In a way I could understand that. But the bike? Nooooooooooooooooo

Now you've done it...I'm far too heartbroken to celebrate my birthday...

You had me!!!

Hoggy needs to stay in the garage under a tarp for now. Al will have a few minutes here or there for it. If he sells it, he will only end up buying an even more expensive one later!!!

LOL! I thought the friend was going to be a couch!

YES!!!!

I mean....oh how sad.

It's just, I have a hate/hate relationship with your husbands bike. Yeah. I do. And I don't care who knows it. And because that probably seems intensely odd to you - I'll tell you why...

Because now he can't keep trying to convince Kevin to get one, so they can become wild hogs or in some bike gang or some other "awesome" thing like that. I just could't go on living if Al and Kevin ended up like Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy (Kevin being Martin Lawrence of course) Or John Travolta and Tim Allen. I just can't go there Kelly.

And now I won't have to.

It's a good day

PUT IT IN A WOOD CHIPPER.
I have no idea where that came from.

I knew something was up. I was like no, this is too serious.
And then it was like one of those "awwww you got me" moments.

oH i THOUGHT IT WAS A XBOX OR SOMETHING. SO SAD! Hey what is the title of that book? I will see if our library has it. My friends mom passed away last week, I think she would enjoy the book.

Now I don't see why he has to let his friendship go. Plenty of people in Florida have friends like that.

You are coming to Florida right?
I promise I won't stalk you. Kind of hard to do that with 4 kids in tow and a homeschool co-op schedule anyway!

What a sad story about a man and his bike. I agree with some of the other people though... Hang onto it because you know damn well when he has the time again he'll want a bike and end up spending even more money on one!

Mayhem and Moxie said...

Are you kidding? Do you want me to fly my husband to Al for support and comfort, Poob?

I am amazed that Al is able to make this supreme sacrifice. I am pretty sure that my husband could not ever do this.

Has Al thought simply about moving his friend to a spot where he could visit from time to time and the two of them could spoon?

Love and prayers from our house to yours.

SAD! I'm sorry -- and you crack me up all at the same time =)

My hubs wants a harley so bad, and I think they're pretty fab. We're planning on getting one with a sidecar for Chloe one day when we can afford it. Can you just imagine little Chloe in the sidecar with a leather jacket, killer shades, and a helmet?

My dad has a Harley and it cracks me up because it's a really cool ride, and my dad is a TOTAL DORK. Just imagine a guy with his pants pulled up way too high so they're floods, and penny loafers to boot, cruisin around on a killer Hog. It cracks me up every single time I see it!

Hmmm. Why do they call me TMI Tara again???

HAhahahahaha. We're selling my husband's 1970 Chevelle. It was his first car...his high school hot rod. Surprisingly, he's okay with it. It's his parents who have "pains in their heart place".
