A Before & After and "Someone Please Come Dress Me!"

I love before and after pictures so I just have to post some of my Dad's house. He's been remodeling for a couple months and it looks great, I am so freakin jealous. I want his house. Now.

All of these pictures were taken during parties that we were having at his house so pay no attention to the folding chairs, table cloths, food and people. They are NOT part of the remodel. Starting with the biggest upgrade, the kitchen:

Before:

After:

Additions: New chrome appliances, marble counter top, tiled walls and new lighting.

Dining Room before:

After:

Additions: New light, marble window ledges

The family room Before:

After:

Additions: Marble mantel top, marble window ledges, new couch, and new decor.

The living room before:

After:

Additions: Marble window ledges, lighting, window treatments, my sisters piano, and well, everything else.

The next pics are of his bedroom. I don't have a before picture because well, there was basically nothing in here before. So here are the after pics:

Additions: Um, everything.

Now if I could only finish cleaning out my closet so I can post some before and after pictures of that. Oh, and I need someone to come remodel me too. You should have seen what I wore to work yesterday.

Pink short sleeve v-neck sweater similar to this (except with short sleeves):

With a white tank underneath similar to this (you don't want any cleave showin at work, unless you're up for a promotion in which case no tank is required):

Charcoal pants, these exact ones:

With these black shiny boots:

Nothing matched, it was seriously like a 4 year old dressed me. There was something about the white tank and the black shoes that threw the whole outfit off. I got home from work and blamed Albert, he should know better than to let me out of the house in that.

Go ahead, you can call the fashion police, I'll even dial the phone number for you.

I seriously need someone to dress me in the morning.

I need help.

Hey, I've OFFERED and you've TURNED.ME.DOWN. I just won't let myself be that vulnerable again. I won't. Except that I will....please go shopping with me!! Pretty please? hahahaha.

P.S. your dads house rocks my socks off.

P.P.S. anything looks cute on your skinny ass. And you're a WHORE.

Ok, your dad's house looks A.MAY.ZING!!!

And you crack me up with your "dress me" thoughts. I wish someone would just do my shopping and buy cool stuff for me to wear. :)

Yes, you do need help! Not in the fashion sense so much as well, I don't want to say.

Your dad's house is awesome. Now that the living room is all fancied up where are you all going to play musical chairs?

Marissa said...

You don't need to hire out someone to help you remodel--just ask your Dad :o) His house looks awesome! And he just goes to show that if you have a decent base to start with, it doesn't take tons and tons of money or "stuff" to make it look great!

I want a new house too. LIke five years of wanting a new house and here you are stirring up all my house desires again. Thanks.

If you knew what I wore daily you could call your self a fashion ICON.

Those boots are kickin' but I'd be like 6 foot 3 in them.

Love love love your Dad's After so pretty and tastefully done. As for your outfit next time don't wear the tank and no one will care what you are wearing!!

Marble window sills? Srsly? I am doing something really wrong.

I am currently wearing a red thermal henley top, mom jeans and slip-on tennis shoes. I can only aspire to be you.

Well since you seem to think you have lost your fashion marble(s) I suggest you go to your father's beautifully redecorated house and get 'em back.

that's better

You know, that depends. Did you tuck your pants into your boots or did you have the pants OVER the boots? That is the million dollar question.

Furry Bottoms said...

Oh, and seriously, I would take that whole outfit over what I am wearing today. Jeans that are too short, socks that keep slouching down and my hairy legs peeking through because I was too lazy to shave. Oh the shame. I belong under a bridge.

I love the re-do's!!! I love all the marble & tile in the kitchen especially! I am DYING for a kitchen re-do myself... giving my husband puppy dog eyes every day.. he aint buying it!

And I have no doubt you can pull off even the craziest outfit, so I'm sure you looked just fine.... have you seen some of the stuff these girls wear on Americas Next top model? Models get away wearing some crazy stuff...

wow ur dad needs to come over NOW! R those the boots I got ya? They are cute! U still like em?

Justine said...

Wow, is your dad doing all that work himself? It looks fabulous! But why do you say your "dad's" house and your "dad's" room? Doesn't your mom live there too?

As for your outfit... it looks like it'd be hot to me!

Justine :o )

Your dad has some mad skillz! Think he'd want to come do some remodel work on a 192 year old house? :)

Your outfit appears to be perfectly fine - now if you had worn a neon green tank top with the sweater or something clashing maybe we'd have to worry about you... ;)

those are some fantastic pics! Love that new living room couch too.

And shiny boots make everything ok.

You did an amazing job with your home. Everything turned out just gorgeous! I find that fashion magazines like People's Style Watch lay things out pretty well. : )

I love the house! So clean! Mine is...a mess right now.

And I need someone to dress me too. At least you own a pair of boots. I just have old Sketchers that I wear with everything.

What a great decorator you are!! Love the tiled wall in the kitchen. Sharp. As far as your clothes............ you should see my closet!! It makes yours looks pretty good.

Your place is gorgeous! Love the tile in the kitchen.

At this point, I would be happy to have a new roof and then a paint job, and then......

My daily attire needs more than the fashion police. I think I need an interventions and my own personal shopper. Know anyone?

Dad's house is nice!

At least you didn't wear clogs.

If YOU need fashion assistance, then I need the fashion police or ER -- STAT! You're very posh and I'd give anything for your hot bod and fab wardrobe. I am especially lovin those pants and boots. I LOVE fall fashion. It's my favorite season .... layers, boots, jackets. Love it!

Actually I do have a pretty fab wardrobe in storage from my single days when I had lots more money and lots less layers of fat. Damn me, my laziness and love of Mtn Dew!

ps your dad's house looks FAB! I love that your mom was at a party there. I'm glad they get along. Most of my friend's divorced parents cannot be in the same county with it causing serious issues. oye.

I wish I could remodel my room. Hire a fabulous gay guy to come in and fix everything.

Very cool remodel. Looks like he has the swanky bachelor pad going...Very cool. I can see why you want His place. He spoils ya'll so much if you ask enough he'll probably move out and let you move in...at least that is what I'm thinking... try it, it might work.

Remodel looks great. It's funny, our first house had almost exactly that first floor plan. Especially the view from the dining room was exactly the same. That was my favorite house - had a beautiful gazebo in the side yard.

I think that sounds like a darling outfit. I love pink and grey together. But then again, I went around looking like a total dork myself today. My top was too short and these jeans just don't fit right. Plus I forgot I'd thrown on my sandals, not really a Fall staple. So I guess we can just be fashion felons together.

Did the extreme home makeover include piano lessons? :) Just askin'...

And I bet you look great wearin' just about anything 'cept super frumpy sweatshirts...

LOL! I obviously need someone to dress me too! As you were describing your outfit I was thinking..."that's cute..what's she thinking!" I got to work in sweats, so I obviously need a reality check! Love reading your blog and your Dad's house looks AWESOME!!

African American Mom said...

Are you kidding me?! Those boots were on FIYA! Nothing wrong with the outfit and the house is fab!

P.S. I am back!

Eve said...

Wow - your dad's house looks fantastic! Somebody has great taste in decor!! :)

Oh, trust me - your mismatched outfit is nothing compared to what I normally wear. In fact, just as an example of my lack of fashion sense, I didn't actually notice anything wrong with your outfit. ;)

j.sterling said...

holy shit, all your pics look amazing~!!!! did you just refinish the kitchen cabinets??? cause that alone was HUGE! looks great! now wtf is wrong with your outfit??? you're asking the chick who wears jeans and tank tops everyday. LOL

j.sterling said...

sorry.. i mean your dad. LOL

OK. Before I jump into my actual comment, I have to get something off of my chest. Does Yaya have a thing for your Dad?

Whoa! That's Pooba's Dad. Back away ladies. :)

Mayhem and Moxie said...

Alright. Now that we have that business out of the way, I must say that the house is super cool. However, what I really want to address is your fashion sense. Mostly because if you have bad fashion sense, then I most definitely do.

I saw nothing wrong with the outfit you described, Poob. Seriously something that I have worn before, extra my sweater was red, not pink, and had no sleeves.

Do we both need to attend some type of fashion seminar with 13 yo Tavi?

foxy said...

Oooooooh... i love that bedroom! I'll take it all, please!

And that outfit doesn't look all that bad... ?? You may not have been feeling it, which counts all the same, but it doesn't look horrible. Promise. Pinky swear promise.

The house looks awesome, great remodeling job there! Love the lighting!

I wore my red, white & blue outfit today: dark blue corduroys, white turtleneck under a red sweater. I'm not the one to ask about fashion.
