Wicked!

A week late I am finally posting about Wicked! We LOVED it! I am a little obsessed with it actually. Albert has been a little annoyed with me blasting the soundtrack throughout the house this past week. I don't know why he complains when I sing Defying Gravity into his ear every 5 minutes. I have an awesome voice and by awesome I mean fantastic, and by fantastic I mean shrill, off-key, and about 10 octaves too high.

Our night started out with some great conversation and so-so food at The Macaroni Grill downtown. Below is baby sis Alyse, my mom, and my cute cousin Ashley.

Below is Lin, the niece Kelsi (who's Grandma has cancer, donate donate donate!), and Lyse.

Below is my aunt Jo, she is Ashley's mom and my mom's sister.

I think someone was getting annoyed with getting a camera shoved in her face all night.

After dinner we ventured out onto the streets of Salt Lake City on our way to the Capitol Theatre and of course we can't be normal anywhere.

Now time for your close up!

So after all the wierd looks and blank stares, we finally made it to the theatre!

While I was trying to take pictures of the theatre, these guys thought I was taking pictures of them and started yellin that I had to pay them to take their photo. So I told them they had to pose and work the camera and well, they tried. I didn't pay them, I just promised not to post their picture on the internet. So here they are!

I was able to get a couple pics inside the theatre before the show started. I love the archetecture of this place so those of you who have never been to the Capitol Theatre, these are for you:

So I bet you all think that I didn't actually go to the play since I'm in none of the pictures right? Well, here's proof peeps!

I'm planning to try out to play Elphaba (The witch) for next season. Not just because I want to make out with Adam Lambert from American Idol, I really think I'd be the perfect Elphaba, green looks great on me!

(Thanks Lin for the Adam link!)

I sort of feel like I need to turn in my chick card.

I saw Wicked in NYC a few years ago, and while I did really like it, I didn't want to make sweet love to it like every other woman in America.

I hang my head in shame.

Oh we went last month and absolutely loved it!!!! It was just wonderful!! I was so excited about seeing it and I was not disappointed.

I'm not going to say anything about singing because well I like to sing it's just that I can't. But that doesn't stop me and my husband seems to tolerate it. lol

Can I be an adopted member of your family? It is so obviously clear from the pics that you girls ALL know how to have fun. And... you all look BEAUTIFUL!

I so want to go see that. The architecture is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. Glad you put a photo of yourself up because I was starting to believe that you weren't there. Glad you had a good time. It doesn't look like too many people were traumatized by family antics.

That would have been a dream date night for me and Josh. Mac Grill is our fav restaurant and Wicked is our fav play!
Have you been singing "loathing" ever since?

I'm so glad to hear it's wonderful... if it ever comes here (or if it's still playing in ten years when I can visit NYC) it's on top of my list, second only to Mama Mia.

I started to read the book a few years ago (way before there was a play), but couldn't get into the creepy baby thing. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to try it again. Thanks for the inspiration:)

You must be Elphaba in Wicked because I will fly to wherever you are and be in the front row on opening night. It will be brilliant.

Oh, and can I tell you that out of all your sisters I think that you look the most like your Mom? (You must get that comment a lot!)

Looks like a very, very fun night.

You are such a lucky girl! I really wanted to go and see Wicked, but by the time I started looking around for tickets, the scalpers had gotten in on the action and tickets were running between $150-$200 each. Little too rich for my blood. Glad you had fun. I'll have to wait until the movie comes out.

Come see me, I tagged you so now you're it!

Is it bad that sometimes I want to see it, but the majority of the time I'm just kind of "eh?"
I probably said OMG I WANT TO SEE WICKED to you before and can't remember.
I have my moments.
I'm glad you guys had fun though!

Have a great week!

last summer i was able to take my three girls to see Wicked in Chicago. they were 8, 7 and 5 at the time and i have to tell you, they thought it was amazing and never once did they get bored. my 5 yr old was entranced the entire time. it was awesome. they want to go back.
this january i was able to go with my five best girlfriends to see it in Louisville (we live near lexington) and i have to tell you that the road performance was every bit as wonderful, maybe a bit funnier! ("I know, that's why i'm so nice" type thing) sheer hilarity and i am excited to see it again.

blast the soundtrack all you want! i will enjoy hearing it. we listen to it in the car. :) JUST NOT AS POPULAR AS ME!! such a good show.

nice to know there are other wicked addicts out there. hope you got the beach towel so you can show off this summer.

Everyone here said what I wanted to say. I am jealous...want to see Wicked too...your family looks like they always have a great time...That's what I get for being sick in bed for the past 4 days. Love the name Lyse too - don't hear it very often. My daughter's middle name is Ilyse.

I haven't seen it yet. Everyone in NY hates it and makes fun of it, much in the way they did of "CATS" But all my friends swear by it and scream at me for not seeing it.

So, maybe I'll throw in the towel and see it. Though I did that with twilight and it didn't pan out. Then again, Twilight THE MUSICAL could be interesting!

I wanted to see Wicked SOOOOO badly when it was here in Chicago, but it was very expensive, and no one I know had enough money to go see it. So I didn't. :-(
