OOWA: Overly Obsessed With Acronyms

The following post was written Sunday Morning at 8:30 AM.

So this morning as I'm trying to enjoy my MMM (Mocha Movie Morning) I set my latte down on the side table in the living room and walk away to go to the bathroom (TMI? whatev).

As I'm in the bathroom I hear a loud lapping sound.

"DOZER NO!"

I wash my hands and hurry out to the living room to see that my worst nightmare has come true.(Ok, maybe not my WORST nightmare, after all, the world has not run out of milk, cereal and chocolate, but a close second.)

Someone drank my latte!

And not just anyone, but a furry, slobbery four legged one! Which means not only is my latte totally gone, which in itself is a horrible tragedy, but is now splattered all over the table, couch and floor.

The bastard.

So after throwing Dozer out the window (Totally kidding, you think I could really pick that dog up?) I clean up the mess.

So now I've missed half of my movie, and no longer have a mocha. This morning is turning into a MMMM (Messy Missed Movie Morning) instead of a MMM. So I decided that I deserve something better than a MMM, yes, I deserve a DHPSLMMSD! (Delicious Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Movie Morning Sans Dog)

Oh yeah, I made my own Pumpkin Spice Latte and am enjoying it right now as I watch my movie.

My DHPSLMMSD.

Now you can have a DHPSLMMSD too! And here's how:

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

2 cups milk
1 cup very strong coffee
2 T canned pumpkin
2 T white sugar
2 T vanilla
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Whipped Cream

Over medium heat, combine coffee and milk in a saucepan. After the mixture is warm, not boiling, whisk in the pumpkin, sugar, vanilla & pumpkin spice. Continue to heat to desired temperature. If you want a foamy latte, continue whisking as it heats.

Pour into large coffee cups and garnish with whipped cream and sprinkle with extra pumpkin pie spice. Makes 3 servings (1 cup each).

I like to keep mine low fat so I used skim milk and Cool Whip Free.

It was delicious!

Now just add your favorite movie (this time of year I suggest Elf) and you've got your very own DHPSLMMSD!

Just make sure you send your dog outside first.

That looks oh-so-YUMMY. Thanks for the recipe. And are you just loving the New Moon soundtrack? I listened to it twice in a row while i was knitting and drinking my coffee Sunday morning. So relaxing...

And did he sit there staring at you the whole time you drank it?

It's awfully hard to be mad at someone so cute!

I want that latte.

The latte looks divine!!! I'd take the puppy, too, though! Mine snitched a piece of buttered toast this morning from my 3 year old. Jesse was wailing and James was chasing Puppy. Guess who I comforted and protected? Yeah, Puppy. ;)

That looks so delish, that if I liked coffee I would make it! When he is so cute, it's hard to be mad at him, right?

Elf is one of my fav Christmas movies!

Looks delicious! Hopefully you got to enjoy it all yourself this time!

Thanks for the recipe. All my Twitter friends are drooling over Starbuck's Pumpkin Latte, but honestly, I'm just too cheap to be able to stand paying that much for coffee. The only time I go there is when I'm traveling and can put it on my expense account. I'll try this though, especially since I've got one of the hard-to-find cans of pumpkin.

PS: Never trust a dog to watch your food. Our Joe would have done the same thing - darn dogs!

That sounds very tasty. Might have to give it a try!

Fabulous! I need to make one now.

What I really want to know is how poor Dozer handled his caffeine binge, I know my dogs would be barfing and shitting all over the place... after running around in circles for hours of course...

I'm a weirdo who doesn't like lattes.

I love hot chocolate though and nearly cried when Natalie drank mine.

Freaking love it! That recipe rocks and I say you take your mocha with you next time ... well maybe up high and not in the bathroom ...

What you can't lift him, come on lady we need to have you pump some iron like Arnold! LOL

LOL!

I too am acronym-obsessed. One time I was on a date and we were ordering lunch at a cafe. It was kind of an inside joke between us to always use acronyms. Anyway, instead of the turkey & avocado, I ordered the T&A. Oh my we died laughing!!!

TMI Tara said...

"Can I get the T&A please?"

I'm gonna pass on the Latte (unless it is a Chai Tea Latte - I'm not a coffee drinker at all) - but how could you stay made at that face, he's so cute!

Many many thanks to you lady. I'm so trying this out! Maybe Starbucks will see less of my cash. Ah ha ha

AHAHAHAHA! I love it! I bet Dozer thought you made it special for him and his very own MMM! ;)

I had a party once that included copious amounts of wine (big surprise, I know). Since there were so many people at this party, I ended up sitting on the floor during the game playing time. I set my full glass of wine on the tile part next to the carpet - and a few minutes later when I picked it up it was empty! My dog had drank the whole thing - without spilling a drop or moving the wine glass. Apparently he was a wine aficionado too. ;)

This would still work with decaf, right? I want to make this for my mom, but I only ever see her in the evening, and she would NOT accept full-caff at that hour. :P

I'll have to try this. I drink something called Teachinno that is grain derived and gives me my warm beverage fix.
