As Close As I'll Get

As much as I wish it was not true, I am a girl. Okay wait, that didn't come out right, let me start over.

Because I am a girl, I am susceptible to jealousy. This predisposition to jealousy is the part I wish wasn't true, not the whole being a girl part. I am very happy to be a girl, very happy indeed!

So when I see people like Suzi livin the good life where she can just hop in the car and drive to the beach anytime she wants, I get extremely jealous. After she posted about her little trip to the beach I couldn't contain my envy any longer. I must have left a pretty pathetic comment about how I was freezing my ass off in Utah while she was looking for sand dollars on the beach because she offered to send me some sand dollars of my own!

Check. It. Out.

Isn't that an adorable little ribbon? The sand dollars even left me a little note too!

I got part of the beach in the mail! Aren't they cool lookin? I've never seen a sand dollar before in my life!

Neither had Dozer.

This is probably as close as I'll ever get to living by the ocean so thanks Suzi!

That was so sweet of her! I really love sand dollars, starfish and seahorses.

That was so sweet of her!

When we used to collect them as children, if they happen to break they have little pieces of shell inside the shape of a flying dove. It's the coolest thing.

I'm not telling you to break your lovely sand dollars, but if one should happen to break, don't throw it away until you get the doves out.

She's right, they are there. They are tiny, but very cool little doves.

What a sweet surprise! It's hard to find non-broken sand dollars.

Now you've made me jealous, and I want to go to the beach!

So does that mean I need to start sending you horse hair? Just kidding! ;)

Sometimes the best gifts are relatively free. What a wonderful surprise to get in the mail.

I can totally understand the jealousy ... I am dreading leaving Flordia at the end of this week!

Well, how sweet was that. When ever we go on vacation, we try to bring a little piece home with us. When we went to the Smoky Mountains, we found a chunk of rock and it sits in our front yard in the flower garden. We brought home sand and shells from the beach and put them in little glass jars around the house to look at and feel from time to time. Then when we went to DC, Morgan pulled a piece of grass from the White House lawn! That is just in a little envelope, not very exciting.

Enjoy your sand dollars!

That is very cool. What a cute friend to do that for you. I found one in the Dominican Republic and it broke on the way home:( Too bad I didn't know about the doves inside.

Can I have one of yours?

J/K...but not really...

What a fun thing for her to do....and this spring when it warms up enough...I'll head to the beach and find you an old dead jelly fish...they're very "beachy" and Dozer will love them!

I want presents in the mail.

Do you have to update your blog to do that??? Prolly huh? Ok well, I wouldn't HATE it if you just sent me something in the mail, like, a piece of candy or somethin. Or a cool pen. I wouldn't hate it at all. (but the candy/pen must come with a note, and we must pretend we've never met and are across-the-country-blog-friends, it will be much more fun that way)

I did buy you a cross word puzzle, it's the least you could do.

Pooba, what are you talking about? I thought we had everything figured out. Let's review the "plan": You are to leave Utah and move to California so that you may become my neighbor. We'll celebrate your move each and everyday with cocktail hour and bottles of red wine. We can even go to the beach whenever you want.

I mentioned that you could bring Al, but we haven't discussed the dog yet.

PS: I did receive your e-mail. Sorry I haven't had a chance to respond. I had something that I wanted to forward you, but I haven't been able to find it. I'll try to look for it again later tonight.

xoxo

What a nice thing for Suzi to send to you!

You need to get out and take a trip to the Ocean. The Pacific isn't *that* far away, lol.

What a sweet friend to send you a little bit of beach! I will be so sad to move from close beach living, granted it's the Northeastern coast...not the sunny tropical, wonderful, year-round beach, but a beach non the less in the summer time. You and your hubby should just move to the coast for year or something- why not?! :)

That's so awesome! What a fun surprise!

When we're at the ocean, you'll see the beach combers out there bright and early to find the sand dollars. If you wait till mid morning, only the broken ones are left. It's a lot of fun to go out finding them though. Glad you get to have a piece of the ocean in your home now. =)
