Just An FYI Before the Drugs Knock Me Out For Good

So I had to get a little surgery today, if you can even call it that. I had to lie on my back while my doctor dug into my chest to remove a mole. It sucked and now I'm tired and a little loopy from the pain meds. I'm trying not to breath too hard so my stitches don't rip apart. Geez I thought he was just removing a mole but after he drew a 2 inch by 1/2 inch oval on my chest I got a little worried.

But mole is gone, stitches are in (and better not scar!) and hopefully the test comes back negative for Melanoma. It's really no big deal, I just feel bad for the nurse because when the doctor started digging, her face went white and she grabbed her mouth and ran out of the room.

Sorry, did I fart or something?

Hope it turns out negative. Hope you feel better. If it makes you feel any better..I may have a slight fracture in my sternum, or contusion, or pulled/torn muschle/ligament. We can endure the chest pain together!

I hope it's OK!!

Poor nurse... I have had so many moles removed. I can totally relate! I actually have to get my whole body checked every 6 months. Happy Healing!

Right...is the nurse supposed to get queasy at that type of thing? I think she may need to look into a new line of work...

Sorry to you and the nurse for having to go through that! Hope everything turns out great. Hey I'm getting a wee bit nervous. Did you package arrive yet? I sent it the same time as the one to John Deere Mom and she got hers. I'm starting to panic that the Post office lost it or delivered it to the wrong place. Not that they would EVER do that! Let me know when you come down off your meds lol

I had one on my back removed that was that deep.... & sorry to say, it left a scar because it was so deep... hopefully yours turns out better... scars are fun stories though - I like to tell people I was stabbed in the back while playing tennis with Monica Selles - hehe!!!

Good for you for getting it taken care of though!!! Skin cancer is very dangerous!

Been there done that... I think about 6 times now! My sister and I both have some moley moley issues!! Fair skin, blond hair, blue eyed girls!! I hope the test comes back negative! I scar bad. I'll have to take a picture of one of them and send it to ya. My niece told me I had some nasty red thing on my back!! No sweet heart, it's my scar from cancer!! Actually, I told her a shark bit me!! That way, I sounded tough.

Been there, done that x 6. Damn fair skin, huh?

Haha that nurse should be downright embarassed. I am sure they see stuff like that and worse everyday, what a pansy. Hope everything is ok!

Oh god... I keep going OW OW OW OW OW reading this.
I had my mom's blood poured on my shoe.
That nurse is a wuss.

That nurse reminds me of that "Will and Grace" episode when Grace had to give blood and the rookie nurse was drawing it. "I'm all this is hard!"

Hope everything turns out well and you are feeling better soon.

I've had a couple moles removed, but it wasn't as bad as yours, thankfully! I could barely handle putting medicine on mine. Hope you're ok!

Ouch!

I hope you feel better.

I had a small cyst removed from under my eye and I was scared out of my mind. But everything turned out okay.

Yikes, I can't believe the nurse ran out like that! I would have freaked.

I'll be thinking about you girl. Praying everything comes back negative! Hope you get to feeling better soon!!

Maybe the nurse was sick - and not in response to you. I've heard a rumor that there's something going around...

ooo ok I don't think the nurse is suppose to do that? if it was the nurse hope everything is ok!!

Debbi said...

Yikes. Time for a new nurse.

Hopefully nothing scars, and there's no melanoma or anything of the sort.

Heal soon! :)

I hope everything turns out alright with your mole. let's put it this way the 3 stitches I recieved in February when I had my cyst removed left on heck of a scar. I hope you have better luck in that department than I did.

P.S. I tagged you over on my blog.

I'm glad you are alright. Get some rest. I'm going to need for that nurse to have a better stomach.

I'll be thinking of you....

I had four moles removed myself. Ain't fun.

That sucks! Kel y is it always something with you? You worry me more than my kids! j/k Hope it heals well with no scar. I was a bit worried about me too. I guess I have been paranoid, I keep thinkin this mole is bigger! It changed shape or color... I am just wierd. Love and miss ya!

I've had about 75 of these things done. They never hurt any less!

Praying for you! I've had skin cancer for 8 years.. it's no fun!

Donnetta said...

HOLY MACARONI - she did NOT?!?!

And you do NOT have melanoma. I will NOT allow it.

Julia said...

Seems like each and every time I go into the skin dr he carves something off of me. I never had to have stitches after ward though. Way to be tough lady!!! I bet it is just fine. I have had some nasty looking things removed and all were normal. Fingers crossed.

Megan said...

Holy crap! That sounds so painful! The image of the nurse totally made me cringe for her and also chuckle. I hope you're feeling better asap and get negative-for-melanoma results.!

Eve said...

Oh my gosh - I am feeling a little sick just thinking about it... that sounds so painful! I have a few moles that I know I should get checked, but geez... what a terrifying and painful sounding experience!

Good luck! I hope the pain is gone and that the results are in your favor!

I agree with everyone else, hope the results came back negative. And as Jeannie said, there's a few creams you can get at the store that reduce the appearance of scaring. My aunt used it on her wrist, and it's all but disappeared.
